We are delighted to invite the neuroscience community for a seminar with Dan Ariely, Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Economics, titled "My journeys with misinformation, and what I have learned about misbelief."
Ariely is the author of three books, including the best-selling “Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces that Shape Our Decisions” in which he challenges our assumption that our decisions are based on rational thought. Why do we make irrational decisions? And why do we believe we act rationally, even when we make decisions on irrational grounds?
In this seminar, Ariely examines the topic of misinformation and what leads otherwise ‘rational’ people to adopt irrational beliefs. For Ariely, it is only by investigating the psychological complexities of the behavior of misbelief, which leads people into distrusting accepted truths, that we can combat the misinformation crisis.
