Call for Scientific Committee Members – 2027 NAD Advanced Neuroscience PhD Course

Neuroscience Academy Denmark is recruiting members for the scientific organising committee of the 2027 NAD national PhD course in Advanced Neuroscience. This will be the third edition of the course, building on two successful previous years.

The overall theme: higher brain functions

The previous two courses took PhD students through the molecular, cellular and synaptic foundations of brain function (2025) and the functional neuroscience of motor and pain systems (2026). For 2027, the overall theme is higher brain functions. The exact scope is for the organising committee to define.

The course format

The Advanced Neuroscience course is a 5-day residential course for up to 40 PhD students from across Danish universities. The format combines lectures from leading researchers with engaging small-group activities designed to build both scientific depth and a strong peer network. The course is an annually recurring event that gives PhD students an overview of contemporary neuroscience, fosters their identity as neuroscientists, and creates connections between neuroscience communities at different Danish universities.

The course is planned to take place in March 2027.

What the committee does

We are looking for researchers working broadly within higher brain function, or with experience in teaching higher brain functions, who wish to take a leading role in shaping the scientific content, identifying speakers, and designing the small-group activities that make the course distinctive. The committee typically meets a handful of times across the year, with most work concentrated in the planning phase. Committee members are not required to contribute teaching themselves, though they are very welcome to.

How to apply

Please send an e-mail to the NAD Education Manager with your name, position and research interests no later than June 15. The NAD Education and Training Committee will evaluate the applicants and put together the optimal committee.
