We are pleased to announce three outstanding keynote speakers for the PhD course Advanced Neuroscience – Motor & Pain, bringing together internationally recognized expertise in systems neuroscience, neuromodulation, and pain research.
Keynote Speakers
Fan Wang (MIT)
Professor Fan Wang is a leading neuroscientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on the neural circuits underlying somatosensation, motor control, and pain, using advanced molecular, genetic, and circuit‑mapping approaches. She is widely recognized for her contributions to understanding how sensory and motor information is processed and integrated in the brain and spinal cord.
Andreas Horn (University Hospital Cologne)
Professor Andreas Horn is a physician‑scientist at the University Hospital Cologne and an internationally acknowledged expert in deep brain stimulation and brain network modeling. His work combines neuroimaging, computational neuroscience, and clinical neurology to improve precision neuromodulation therapies, particularly for movement disorders and pain.
Network Stimulation Laboratory
Associate Professor Michelle Roche (University of Galway): Dissecting the Relevant Circuitry Within Pain and Depression
Dr Michelle Roche is an Associate Professor and Neuroscientist in Physiology at the Centre for Pain Research & Galway Neuroscience Centre. Her research focuses on enhancing understanding of the neurobiology underlying pain, affective disorders, and their interactions.
